Dr.
Dobro studied at the School of Dental Medicine at Tufts University,
earning his dental degree in 1974. He furthered his studies at the
University of Chicago where he completed a General Practice Residency in
1975. He then went on to earn a specialty degree in Prosthodontics at
the University of Illinois in 1977. The emphasis of his studies was
esthetic and reconstructive dentistry, and periodontal disease.
While
completing his advanced studies, Dr. Dobro taught dental students at
the University of Illinois as an Associate Professor in Fixed
Prosthodontics. He held the same position at the University of Colorado
School of Dentistry when he moved to Denver in 1977.
When Dr. Dobro was elected to the American Academy of Fixed
Prosthodontics by their Board of Censors in 1978, he was the youngest
member ever. He was a co-founder of the New England II Study Club of
Dentistry, and is a Past President of the Colorado Prosthodontist
Society. He has lectured on prosthetic and implant dentistry to groups
of dentists around the country.
Personal Life
Dr.
Dobro married the enchanting and gracious Leah Desbiens in
2005. They have been trying (and failing) to live a boring life ever since. After
relocating from Montreal, Leah adapted to her new life and
new husband with admirable ease. The couple was soon running First
Avenue Dental Associates together, then finding a new house and moving.
The new home came in handy, as Son Mendy joined big brother Mitchell in November 2007. It
quickly became too small when Mendy learned to walk and his Sister
Eliora arrived in 2009. Mitchell is a second year student at Eckerd College in Florida. He joins his family regularly for baseball games and barbecues and is a wonderful older brother to Mendy and Eliora.
Dr.
Dobro took on a new twist in his career in August 2009 when he
partnered with professional colleague and friend Dr. Stephen M. Stein to open New Image Dental Implant Center, a practice committed to superior dental implant treatment. Dr. Dobro contributed to the vision and
implementation of the new center, while Leah provided the excellent taste
that went into decorating it.
In between
changing diapers, Dr. Dobro and Leah can be found playing golf, which
they do miserably but with much enjoyment. They are very active in
religious study and practice, and in community work.
